Kroměříž – Kroměříž plans to renovate a building with dozens of apartments providing care services on Nitranská street in the coming years. The estimated costs amount to approximately 74 million crowns. The European grant that the city is applying for could be around 60 million crowns. This was stated in today's press release by city hall spokesman Jan Vondrášek. According to city representatives, the apartments are in poor condition and are not suitable for people with limited mobility.
The city hall is pursuing funding from the Integrated Regional Operational Program for the renovation of building number 4091. "The council approved the application for the grant. Since the beginning of the election period, the city leadership has been striving to maximize the acquisition of grant funds, which we would like to use for the costly renovation of this apartment building primarily intended for our seniors," said Mayor Tomáš Opatrný (ANO).
According to city representatives, some windows are leaking into the apartments, and the kitchen and sanitary facilities are outdated. After the renovation, the apartments should be barrier-free, the building insulated, with new windows, doors, and installations for water, waste, heating, and electricity. "Under no circumstances will these apartments serve problematic or non-adjustable people. The target group remains seniors and newly also individuals after leaving healthcare facilities, children's institutions, or foster care," said Deputy Mayor Pavel Motyčka (KDU-ČSL).
In the future, the city also wants to renovate the neighboring building number 4092. Both buildings on Nitranská street have served as care service houses since last July. They contain a total of 57 apartments. They serve as a preliminary step to residential social services. They are intended for people whose condition does not require intensive care provided in senior homes; they are partially self-sufficient and can live independently only with the help of care services.
The care service named Curare falls under the Social Services of the city of Kroměříž and is located directly in the buildings on Nitranská street. It provides field social services both to residents of the care service buildings and to other clients in their place of residence. The advantage is that people can use it 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including nighttime hours.
