Kuřim (Brno region) - In two to three years, they would like to have a new sports hall in Kuřim in the Brno region that can accommodate 200 to 300 spectators. It is expected to cost 60 to 70 million crowns; the municipality wants to complete the zoning procedure this year, said mayor Drago Sukalovský to ČTK.
The project was initiated in Kuřim during the previous electoral term, and they selected the winner of the architectural competition. "We are currently preparing the project documentation and we want to obtain a building permit next year, and we need to resolve the financing. So far, we do not have the funds, but it is likely that part will come from the budget and for part of it, the city will need to take out a loan," Sukalovský said.
The hall for second-league handball players and other sports will be located in the northern part of the city between the football stadium and the TOS company premises, where there are currently gardens on municipal land. "It is a very good location where a sports and recreational complex should function. There is also a waterpark and wellness center here, and in the future, we want to renovate the football stadium. We are also trying to find an investor who would build a hotel here," Sukalovský informed about the plans.
The hall's playing field will measure 40 by 20 meters, so it can fully serve not only handball but also futsal, floorball, and other indoor sports.
