Brno – The construction of the planned cable car from Brno's Pisárky to the university campus must undergo a preliminary assessment process, which will determine whether an environmental impact assessment is necessary for the project. This information comes from a document on the Information Portal EIA. The preparation of the cable car is currently in the design phase, and construction could begin in mid-2022, said Hana Tomaštíková, spokeswoman for the Brno transport company, to ČTK.
"The project documentation is expected to be complete by mid-April, after which it will be sent to the relevant governmental authorities and other entities for feedback. We plan to submit the application to the relevant building authority around the beginning of the summer holidays," Tomaštíková stated.
The result of the project will be an application for a joint permit, thus combining zoning and building proceedings. "Depending on the duration of preparations, we expect to begin the tender for the construction works by the end of this year," Tomaštíková added.
The length of the route is to be approximately 1.7 kilometers. The estimated costs are 500 million. The starting point is the Pisárky-Lipová station, and the cable car will further lead to the Riviéra intermediate station and then to the campus. The transport capacity is 1000 people per hour in the first phase and 2000 in the second phase. The main reason for the construction is primarily to relieve the heavily used trolleybus line, improve the quality of the current transport services, and provide a direct connection between the campus and the exhibition grounds. The completion of the tram line construction at the end of 2022 will also ease the transport connection to the campus.
