Rožnov p. R. - Libušín at Pustevny will have slightly different colors after its renovation. The monument, built in 1899 according to the design of architect Dušan Jurkovič, burned down four years ago. The construction of the new Libušín began last June, and the renovation should be completed next year. The rough construction is already finished, Jindřich Ondruš, director of the Wallachian Open Air Museum in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm in the Vsetín region, which manages the property, told reporters today.
After the renovation, Libušín will return to its 1925 color scheme, when all its parts were completed. "We conducted a very detailed survey, the small details were chipped away, layers of paint were scraped off to reach the original colors," Ondruš stated. The body of the building will be lighter, and the shades of colors will change. "The building is new, it won't be as dark. The red will not be as intense, nor will the white; it will have a slight ochre tint," the director said.
The museum will also adjust the color scheme of the neighboring building Maměnka, which was also designed by Jurkovič. "The buildings are inseparably linked. We are now in a period where Maměnka needs maintenance; we want to restore the colors to match how Libušín will look," Ondruš said.
According to him, Libušín will be completed this year up to the stage of outdoor coatings, it will have a roof, windows, floors, and installations. At the beginning of next year, finishing works will be done, and the construction is expected to be completed by the end of June. "We are already announcing a competition for catering services, subsequently, we will announce a competition for the exteriors, and then we will need to compete for the tenants," Ondruš stated. The public should start using the renovated Libušín in the winter season of 2019/2020. About seven percent of the original Libušín, which has been preserved, or its original parts stored in a depository, will be used in the new building. The renovation is expected to cost 100 million crowns.
