Prague - People can comment on the concept of modifications around Veletržní Street and Dukelských hrdinů in Prague 7. This is planned alongside the reconstruction of the tram line. The study includes new pedestrian crossings and modifications of the existing ones to be barrier-free. The stops will also be adjusted. A new line of trees could also be created. The Institute of Planning and Development (IPR), which is preparing the concept together with Prague 7, informed about this in a press release today.

Modifications to Veletržní Street result from the commissioning of the Blanka tunnel, which has diverted part of the car traffic from this area of Prague. The concept addresses Veletržní Street from Letenské náměstí to Bubenská, and further Dukelských hrdinů between Milady Horákové and Strojnická, as well as part of Strojnická Street. The proposals can be seen at an exhibition in front of the Veletržní Palace.

"The construction modifications and the overall improvement of the quality of both streets can contribute to the opening of new businesses and encourage restaurant operators to establish outdoor dining spaces. The cultivation of public space can support local businesses and increase the feeling of safety,"
said the mayor's deputy for urban development, Petra Kolínská (SZ/Trojkoalice).

Dukelských hrdinů Street, formerly known as Bělský Boulevard, was one of the main boulevards of Prague 7. Historically, it was a link between the original Písecká Gate in Malá Strana and the Royal Game Reserve. Today, it connects the waterfront through Strossmayerovo Square with the exhibition grounds and Stromovka. Veletržní Avenue, which leads to Letná, has so far mainly been a transport artery. In the past, there were considerations about connecting it with Dělnická Street. This is also taken into account in urban studies on the development of Bubenské nádraží.
