Litvínov - Litvínov will have a new swimming hall. The city hall has already signed a contract with the project supplier. The construction costs for the facility at the Koldům swimming pool complex are estimated at 130 million Czech crowns. Residents are expected to swim in the pools as early as 2020. This was stated by the city spokesperson Margita Kučerová.
The old swimming hall no longer meets standards, and the costs for its renovation would be high. Therefore, the city decided to build a new one. Before the end of the year, one of nine interested parties for the preparation of project documentation was selected. The city did not announce an architectural competition. "A contract with the winning supplier was signed at the beginning of January. The expected completion date for the project documentation, which also includes obtaining a building permit, is the end of April 2018," Kučerová stated.
The facility will include a 25-meter swimming pool, a recreational pool, a children's pool, a whirlpool, and a sauna. The total capacity is expected to be 150 people.
The hall will be built on the site of the current building in the Koldům summer swimming pool complex. The construction itself is estimated to take around 18 months. The first visitors could swim in the new pool as early as the beginning of 2020. The city plans to demolish the old swimming facility. Considering the costs, Litvínov will likely have to take out a loan for the entire project.
A new indoor pool construction is also starting in Lounech. They are still in the initial stages there as well. By the end of January, the city will have four proposals for how the new indoor swimming facility could look.
