Mělník – Mělník is preparing a modernization of the ice rink, including technologies worth more than 20 million crowns, and wants to utilize suitable grants. It is currently completing the project documentation, said the spokesperson of the city hall, Barbora Walterová.

The modernization should include a complete replacement of the ice cooling technology; during the renovations, the operation of the rink will be limited. The project also includes the construction of an extension to the rink, which should house an additional ice surface. "Therefore, during the reconstruction, the maintenance room will be relocated so that it can later access both surfaces for hockey players if needed," the spokesperson stated.

The expected costs, according to prices at other ice rinks, will be between 25 and 30 million crowns, but according to the spokesperson, this is just an estimate as market prices are still changing, and the tender will be announced once a suitable grant is available.

The Mělník ice rink is used for training by hockey players and figure skaters, and it also serves for public skating.
