Moravská Třebová (Svitavsko) - Moravská Třebová in the Svitavy region is preparing to demolish the former hospital. The dilapidated and unused building will be torn down at the end of September. The construction company is already clearing out the historic building. Mayor Miloš Izák (ČSSD) said this to ČTK today.
The building, dating from the early 20th century, has been owned by the city for more than ten years, having bought it for four million crowns from the regional government. Three million crowns will be spent on its demolition. Originally, the town hall wanted to establish a congress center there, but the European subsidies were too low.
The city also negotiated with investors who planned to convert the building into a nursing home or starter apartments. Earlier this year, it considered canceling the demolition decision. However, the investors did not agree to the mandatory guarantees that the city required. "They were scared that we wanted ten years of operating guarantees for their project, otherwise they faced penalties in the tens of millions of crowns. We have no further plans for the vacant space that will be created," said Izák.
The building is already severely devastated, with collapsing ceilings and repeated fires. The construction company BISA from Hradec Králové must complete the work in 70 days, that is, by the end of October. Workers are already clearing out the building.
"Mechanical demolition awaits us at the end of September, at the turn of October, and it will take seven to ten days. The building is currently being cleared of wood, linoleum, glass, so that only construction debris remains, which will be crushed and reutilized," said Tomáš Kotyza from the construction company.
