Pardubice - The Pardubice Region wants to start the construction of a new Rehabilitation Hospital in Moravská Třebová in the Svitavy district this summer. The building where it currently resides is in private hands, and the regional administration did not reach an agreement with the owners for its purchase. An emergency medical service base will be part of the construction, said the governor Martin Netolický (ČSSD) to reporters today.

"This will be a model rehabilitation hospital, which will certainly serve as a model for other regions and possibly even for the state. The hospital is designed very economically, but at the same time very architecturally interesting," said Netolický.

The project includes a hospital with 90 rehabilitation beds, as well as a catering service, rehabilitation facilities, and a biochemistry laboratory. At the same time, there will be a rescue service station in the building, including parking for ambulances.

In April, the bidding process for a construction company should begin. The construction is expected to take 15 months, with completion planned by the end of next year. Costs are estimated at 300 million crowns including VAT, of which the regional administration aims to obtain 100 million crowns from a planned loan from the European Investment Bank.

The hospital will be built on the site of the former children's hospital department, which Moravská Třebová demolished. The city donated the land to the region.

The region currently operates the hospital in rented premises. Three owners of the company that owns it are also employees of the hospital, and have been since 1994. The city halted the privatization of the buildings in the 90s, instead entering into a limited partnership with individuals and later sold its share. The region was unable to agree on the purchase of the current building with the private owners, as the price was deemed too high. After the completion of the new building, the hospital will vacate the original facility. Until then, the regional administration has agreed to a lease under favorable conditions.
