Pardubice - The leadership of the Pardubice Region today approved the commencement of a selection process for the builder of a new facility for the Rehabilitation Hospital in Moravská Třebová in the Svitavy region. It will also include an emergency medical service base. The estimated construction costs, which are expected to start in the summer months, amount to nearly 290 million crowns including VAT, said the spokesperson of the regional authority, Dominik Barták.
The project includes not only a hospital with 90 beds but also a catering operation, rehabilitation facilities, laboratories, an administrative-operational part, and a station for the emergency service, including parking for ambulances. The land for the construction was acquired by the region from Moravská Třebová. The hospital will be built on the site of the former children's hospital department building, which the city demolished.
The region currently operates the hospital in rented facilities. Three owners of the company that owns it have been employees of the hospital since 1994. The city suspended the privatization of the buildings in the 1990s; instead, it entered into a limited partnership with individuals and later sold its share. The region did not reach an agreement with the private owners to purchase the current building, as the price was considered too high. After the completion of the new building, the hospital will vacate the original facility. Until then, the regional authority has agreed on a lease under favorable conditions.
