Prague - Artistically gifted high school students can compete for a chance to participate in the World Expo EXPO 2010 in Shanghai, China. The theme of the competition is What will make my city and life in it better in twenty years. Young people can draw their ideas, create sculptures, or process them as computer animations or videos. The author of the winning work will travel to the World Expo along with their teacher, where their work will be exhibited in the Czech pavilion. The ČTK was informed about this by the spokesperson of the office of the Commissioner General for Expo 2010, Bibiana Beňová. "Our intention is to present ideas, themes, and creative activities of our youngest generation as part of the exhibition," said Pavel Stehlík, the Commissioner General for the Czech Republic's participation at EXPO. The main motto of the World Expo is Better City - Better Life, which aims to express the current issues of urban growth and the related ecological and social problems. Students can submit their proposals through their schools from September 10 to September 30. The best work in each category will be determined by a professional jury under the patronage of architect David Vávra. Participants must be between the ages of 15 and 19; details about the competition can be found on the website www.czexpo.com/soutez.
