The construction industry is on the brink of an energy revolution, initiated by the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive 2010/31/EU (EPBD). The Passive House Center has therefore prepared six new courses that respond to ongoing legislative changes and the increasingly urgent need for a new approach to building design. The first pilot courses are available free of charge for professionals from the South Moravian Region, and they can sign up for them now.
Zero-energy and passive houses have changed traditional design practices
“The transformations we are already witnessing in construction cannot happen without a radical change in the approach of architects and designers to their designs. It is a necessity for a comprehensive, or rather, integral design of the building. The architect works very closely with other specialists during the study – with building physicists, structural engineers, experts on building services, and so on – so that the result meets the demands for aesthetics, low energy consumption, and especially a healthy and quality indoor environment,” says Jan Bárta, director of the Passive House Centre, which has been specializing in the passive house standard and its quality since 2005.

Experts teach and pass on their experiences

The teaching team consists of leading Czech specialists and experts from various fields of energy-efficient construction, who dedicated nearly a year to preparing the courses. The result is a well-thought-out educational program that cleverly connects theory and practice in teaching so that participants can acquire new information as effectively as possible and know how to use it in their work.

Courses start in May 2013
A total of six new courses will take place in their "pilot phase" from May to August 2013 in Brno. These pilot courses aimed at professionals from the South Moravian Region will also be free for participants thanks to financial support from the EU!

More information about individual courses:
Course A. Introduction to designing passive and zero-energy houses
Course B. Basic principles of designing passive and zero-energy houses
Course C. Designing passive and zero-energy houses
Course D. Ensuring quality in buildings with nearly zero energy needs
Course E. Designing and inspecting heating systems and air conditioning systems
Course F. Energy-efficient reconstruction of existing buildings

Enrollment for the courses has just started and their capacity is limited – interested parties should not delay in signing up. The registration form can be found on the website of the Passive House Centre.

A new educational program to support experts was created as part of the project "Creation of an Educational Program for Experts in Energy-Efficient Construction in the South Moravian Region" (reg. No. CZ.1.07/3.2.04/03.0057), which is co-financed by the European Social Fund and the state budget of the Czech Republic.
