Jeseník - The crimson, yellow, and gray color of the new façade on the main building of the Jánský vrch castle was marked by Eva Pulkrtová from the National Heritage Institute as the most visible restoration of monuments in the Jesenicko region last year. She also appreciated the restoration of small and church monuments. Municipalities, towns, and churches dedicated tens of millions of crowns to repairs.
The completion of the façade repair of Jánský vrch alone cost 1.5 million. "According to the tests we conducted before starting the repairs, the color should now reflect the period of Maria Theresa's reign," stated curator Kateřina Danielová.
"From a heritage perspective, I am also pleased with the ongoing restoration of small monuments. The Jesenicko landscape is becoming cozier thanks to this," Pulkrtová told ČTK. She cited the restoration of the Baroque chapel Kurzakurchi in Nová Červená Voda and several wayside shrines in the village as examples.
Last year, the restoration primarily focused on church monuments in the Jesenicko region, the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Zlaté Hory, where the restoration of the roof with Baroque trusses was completed, or the cemetery church of Saint Cross in Javorník, where the originally early Baroque sacristy tower was also repaired. "The original slate has returned to the roofs of both churches," Pulkrtová noted. According to her, only a few exceptions can boast a new façade like the Church of the Virgin Mary in Černá Voda or Horní Domašov.
The original façade is also being restored on the Praděd hotel in Jeseník, whose building from the early 19th century is returning to its original appearance.
Among the restoration works in the Jesenicko region, Pulkrtová highlighted the restoration of colored reliefs of the neo-Gothic Stations of the Cross at the pilgrimage site in Travná or the first phase of the restoration of the Baroque statue of the Immaculate Virgin Mary in front of the church in Skorošice.
Last year, the Ministry of Culture allocated five million crowns for 25 of the most endangered monuments in the Olomouc region, and an additional 17 million was spent on monument repairs by the Olomouc region.
