Otovice (Karlovy Vary) - A view of the Ore Mountains is offered by the newly opened viewpoint, which has risen at the boundary of the municipality of Otovice and Karlovy Vary - Sedlec. It was created as part of a development project by Moyo Holding, but it will serve the public. According to architect Richard Sidej, the commission was interesting precisely for the reason that the developer, who is offering land for the construction of family houses in the area, wanted to invest in public space. "That's a complete exception in my practice," he told ČTK today. "Unlike most viewpoints in Karlovy Vary, which offer a dramatic view of the spa town, this one looks at the peaceful landscape of the mountains," he added. The viewpoint is made of metal structure and resembles a human ear. It is 33 meters long, 2.5 meters high at its highest point, and offers a view of the peaks of the Ore Mountains, including Klínovec. According to Deputy Mayor Jiří Klsák (KOA), the new viewpoint in Otovice will complement about twenty lookout towers and viewpoints that Karlovy Vary can boast of. Viewpoints are places that attract walkers and are often the main destinations for many people's trips. The work on the viewpoint took quite a long time from idea to realization. "The actual construction took about half a year," said Moyo's director, Jan Humplík, today. "The bent metal structure was first manufactured in six segments, which were then welded on site," he added.
