NOVÝ BOR - Citizens and entrepreneurs of Nový Bor helped save the chapel of Saint Anne on Vodní Street in Arnultovice. The city used the proceeds from the auction of student works for its repair, and some local companies carried out construction changes free of charge. Mayor Radek Nastič told ČTK today that the city aims to repair at least one church monument each year in this manner.

"Of course, we are trying to obtain funding for renovations through subsidies and grants as well. The interest of people in the condition of monuments pleases us greatly," he added.
The chapel dates back to the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The building, with intact raw joint masonry, needed a roof and turret repair. "It was in very poor condition. It had been leaking for a long time, and the ceiling structure, including the plaster, was damaged," said Josef Neumajer from the Department of Heritage Care. During the repairs, interesting fragments of the original painting appeared inside the chapel.
Officials have already secured funding for the repair of the cross in Palackého Square. They also plan to repair the niche chapel in Nová Skalica and the statue of the Immaculate behind the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Nový Bor. For both projects, which will require about 150,000 crowns, they already have a restoration plan prepared.
