Pardubice – The new director of the East Bohemian Gallery in Pardubice will be Klára Zářecká. She won the selection process and will take up the position at the beginning of next year, said Zuzana Nováková from the governor's office today. The task of the incoming director will be to initiate a new phase of the gallery's activities in the Automated Mills, which are being renovated for this purpose. Until now, the gallery was managed by Hana Řeháková.

"For the East Bohemian Gallery, which will celebrate 70 years since its establishment in 2023, the move to the Automated Mills will probably be the most significant impulse in its history. It is fitting that this period will be guided by a person who will lead it with a perspective of at least five to ten years under entirely new conditions," said the deputy governor for investments and culture, Roman Línek (Coalition for Pardubice Region).

The selection committee unanimously chose Zářecká from six candidates. She is an art historian, an experienced curator, and a gallery educator. She has been working as a professional assistant and head of the Department of Art Education and Creation of Specialized Study at the Department of Fine Arts and Textile Creation at the Faculty of Education, University of Hradec Králové for ten years. She graduated from the Faculty of Education, University of Hradec Králové, and studied general theory and history of art and culture at the Faculty of Philosophy, Charles University in Prague. She has been a curator of exhibitions and a gallery educator at the Gallery of Modern Art in Hradec Králové and also a curator of one exhibition at the East Bohemian Gallery in Pardubice. She also has extensive publication activity behind her.

Zářecká wants to open the gallery to the widest possible range of visitors and strengthen its perception as a socially beneficial institution. "This can be ensured by a quality motivated team of experts who will have a clear vision of the long-term exhibition concept. Doctoral students in art history and external curators could also be involved in it through competitions once a year," Zářecká stated. She also intends to emphasize educational activities, not only for children, and to expand artistic studios.
