Chomutov - The new urban plan for Chomutov brings changes that could negatively affect the character of residents' housing and the prices of their properties, claims the opposition movement PRO Chomutov. The city leadership, on the other hand, stands by the new form of the urban plan, stating it is the result of long-term work by experts. The opposition stated in a press release that, for example, they do not like the fact that near the city park, a smaller commercial zone or parking area could be created instead of a summer stadium. The establishment of a large shopping center is being considered near Šípková Street on Březenecká or in the fields at Zadní Vinohrady right behind the apartment buildings. "The new urban plan accounts for a loss of greenery in several places. There may be many unpleasant changes in it, but it is beyond our capabilities to discover all of them in the extensive map," said Jan Hartman, chairman of the civic association PRO Chomutov and an opposition councilor. The movement urges people to take an interest in the proposed urban plan directly with the relevant municipal officials. According to them, this did not happen in the past; during the last changes years ago, residents of Chomutov sent only three comments. Because of this, the movement is preparing a meeting with citizens on Monday, May 19, at 5:00 PM at Café Rouge. The city leadership stands by the amendments to the urban plan. "It is the result of more than two years of work by experts, which sets the rules for the further urban development of the city," said Mayor Jan Mareš (ČSSD). The municipality wants as many people as possible to become acquainted with the document. The proposal is fully published on the city's website and to a limited extent in the entrance building of the town hall on May 1st Square. Citizens can send their comments until May 28. A public discussion will take place in the town hall meeting room on Wednesday, May 21, at 4:00 PM. The final say on the approval of the urban plan will be with the council. Objections and comments against the proposed urban plan can be submitted by landowners and building owners affected by the proposal, the entitled investor, and a representative of the public. "They must submit them in writing with justification, defining the affected area and provide details according to the property register documenting the affected rights. They must not forget their identification details and signature," said Martina Valešová from the department of development, investment, and property of the city.
