National Technical Library (NTK) offers exceptional and free tours of the most modern and largest technical library in the Czech Republic. Tours open to the general public are scheduled from July 16 every Thursday at 10 AM, and interested visitors just need to arrive at 9:50 AM in front of the Balling Hall on the ground floor of the building (entrance NTK4). NTK usually offers guided tours of its headquarters in the Dejvice campus free of charge only to students of secondary schools, higher vocational schools, and universities, as well as to employees of research and development facilities, libraries, and information centers. In other cases, the tour is subject to a fee. However, conditions are changing now, as due to the situation in recent months, only registered users will be allowed entry to the library. Entry with a one-time ticket is not possible. During the tour, visitors will learn about the history and services offered by NTK, explore the architecture of the new building, and discover many interesting facts. For example, they will see a faithful copy of the decree from 1717, by which the regional estates appointed Ch. J. Willenberg as the first parliamentary professor of engineering, thus laying the foundations for today's Czech Technical University (ČVUT) and NTK. They will walk through the architecturally acclaimed library from the ground floor to the top floor.
