Nymburk - In Nymburk, less than a year since the start of construction, the rough structure of the new swimming pool has been completed. It should be finished by the end of this year or at the beginning of next year. The city has received a grant of 120 million crowns from the National Sports Agency for the construction, which should cover about a quarter of the costs. This was stated by Deputy Mayor Zdeněk Vocásek (ODS) to ČTK.

According to Vocásek, the construction is proceeding according to schedule. "We are already past the rough construction; the installations are underway, such as electrical installations, plumbing, and air conditioning, and a stainless steel pool basin is being created," he said.

Heating for the area will be provided by a cogeneration unit in combination with a heat pump and photovoltaics. The city also wants to achieve savings by coordinating some parts of the construction for both the pool and the nearby ice rink, which will be built after the demolition of the old stadium. "For example, the rainwater was originally designed separately, each building with separate drainage pipes; now we are combining them into one," Vocásek said.

Recently, the city also selected a director for the new contributing organization Recreational Area Labe, which will manage the pool's operations, starting on June 1. The construction of the new pool, costing 380 million crowns excluding VAT, is one of the largest current investments in the city. The town hall has arranged a loan for it, but has not yet begun to draw on it.

The planned area will feature a pool with six swimming lanes, wellness facilities, and a children's pool with attractions, a slide, a relaxation pool with a whirlpool bench, and a channel to the outdoor area. Subsequent stages of the construction work will include building a parking lot, access roads, utilities, connection to the bike path, street lighting, and other elements in the vicinity.
