Nymburk - Nymburk is planning the construction of a new swimming pool for 120 to 140 million crowns. It should be built by the Elbe River near the ice rink. The construction was approved by the city councilors, the city hall spokesperson Olga Havránková stated today.

According to her, the city leadership worked with two options - either to renovate the current swimming pool or to build an aquatic center from scratch. After discussions with experts, the commission for development and investments recommended the second option to the councilors. According to Havránková, the city took inspiration from Bohumín.
"I spoke with architects and suppliers of swimming complex facilities, and for Nymburk, a completely new pool appears to be more economical and practical in many respects. It is not only about the acquisition costs, but we must also think about the future costs of operation," said Mayor Tomáš Mach (ČSSD).
According to him, the goal is the greatest possible self-sufficiency of the facility. "We are currently discussing the design of the swimming pool with a relaxation and family zone," Mach added. Swimming clubs operate in the city, so the pool is intended not only for the public but also for athlete training.
Pools and water worlds are also being developed in other cities; for example, Mladá Boleslav is currently building a new indoor pool.
