Brno - Crestyl intends to start the demolition of the department store on Dornych in Brno in 2022. Following that, the company plans to build new buildings. Six of them will be created, and there will be a covered square among them. In this busy location next to the railway station, there will be apartments, offices, shops, restaurants, and other services. The developer previously informed about these plans, and now, according to a document on the EIA Information Portal, has requested an assessment of the construction's impact on the environment.

The department store, whose main tenant was long-term the Tesco chain, is the original Prior from the time of socialism. The developer plans to replace it with six buildings with three underground floors, the tallest of which will have eight above-ground floors. The underground will primarily serve as parking, accommodating 771 cars.

The developer also anticipates that the new construction will significantly improve and clarify the area, and reduce petty crime, as the vicinity of the department store attracts, for example, homeless people and other problematic individuals.

In the western part of the two and a half hectare site, a small park will also be created. This is a land reserve for a potential future north-south railway diameter, namely a subway.

The area south of the main station has been intensively developing and transforming over the last 20 years. Currently, CTP is completing the administrative complex Vlněna on the site of the former textile factory, and at the site of the former Metropol hotel, which has been an empty lot for many years, a new hotel is to be built. Just a few meters further south, the Dorn building has emerged, which is a high-rise, predominantly office building, and there is also the Vaňkovka shopping center nearby. In the last two years, the city has also been reconstructing Dornych and Plotní streets, moving the tram tracks to Plotní street, and this year the modernization of the bus station at Zvonařka is expected to be completed.
