Olomouc - The Museum of Art in Olomouc is looking for a new director, the selection process has already been announced by the Ministry of Culture. The current head, Pavel Zatloukal, is retiring in the spring of next year. He will leave after 23 years, symbolically on the day when one of his most significant exhibition projects, From Titian to Warhol, concludes at the museum. "I am retiring due to age, leaving for retirement. I will remain in the position until March 31 of next year," Zatloukal told CTK today. He has led the Museum of Art since 1990 and hopes that his successor will maintain a certain continuity in the institution's work. He has no information about potential candidates yet, as the selection process was announced only a few days ago. According to information on the Ministry of Culture's website, interested candidates can submit their applications until the end of January next year. A university degree, general knowledge of museology and art history, or at least five years of experience in managing work teams are required. Candidates for this position should also have an idea of the further development of the Museum of Art in Olomouc. The Museum of Art in Olomouc is among the most significant institutions of its kind in the country. It manages around 200,000 collection items and ranks just after the National Gallery in Prague in terms of the number of items. Through short-term and medium-term exhibitions as well as long-term displays, it showcases artistic culture from ancient times to the present day in three locations - at the Archdiocesan Museum in Olomouc, the Archdiocesan Museum in Kroměříž, and the Museum of Modern Art in Olomouc. Currently, the Museum of Art in Olomouc is presenting a project titled From Titian to Warhol, which also celebrates 60 years of its operation. It showcases works by Titian, van Dyck, Myslbek, Filla, Toyen, and other artists. The museum exhibits 590 pieces from its own collections as well as from collectors. According to Zatloukal, this is a retrospective exhibition that maps the work of the museum's representatives over the last decade. It ends on March 31 of next year.
