Brno – The South Moravian Region is preparing a public discussion on the proposal for updating the principles of territorial development only online, on June 9. According to the region's spokesperson Monika Brindzáková, this unusual procedure, where people cannot view the presentation in the congress hall, was consulted with the Ministry for Regional Development and follows its methodological guidelines for the current situation influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic, the spokesperson told ČTK.
Initially, the public discussion was scheduled for May 13, when a state of emergency and a ban on gatherings were still in place. "In an effort to adhere to the planned schedule, including the release date of the update this September, we assessed the remote form of public discussion as the most suitable, safe, and allowing for participation by the general public without health risks," Brindzáková stated.
The update is crucial primarily for determining the route of road or highway 43 from the D1 highway through Brno further north. Due to this and the plan to route it through Brno, there is strong opposition to the update proposal from several municipalities and city districts of Brno. On the other hand, a large number of municipalities demand the rapid preparation of this communication due to the unbearable traffic on road I/43.
People can follow the proceedings at the web address http://www.publicwire.eu/regions/jmk/stream and ask questions by phone at the toll-free number 800 200 207. A question can last a maximum of three minutes.
The region has taken a different path than Brno, which is also preparing a public discussion on the proposal for a new urban plan in June. The original May date has been replaced by June 22 and 23, when the discussion will take place at the exhibition center, and people will also have the opportunity to ask questions by phone.
