Mladá Boleslav - The repairs of the unused swimming pool in the Sokol Hall in Mladá Boleslav could begin next year. The budget for the reconstruction of the pool amounts to approximately 25 million crowns, and the city will also pay the Sokol organization rent for using the pool. The city has been negotiating the rent amount with Sokol for about a year, and only now have both parties agreed on a monthly rent of 20,000 crowns. This was stated by the mayor of Mladá Boleslav, Raduan Nwelati (ODS).
The rent amount still needs to be approved by the council and the assembly. "I am very pleased that the negotiations with Sokol are now friendly. I believe that this will be beneficial for both parties. We will arrange a pool there that will primarily function as a teaching pool for schools and during certain hours as a relaxation pool for seniors, and possibly for other contractual partners. Sokol, on the other hand, will have a renovated building, which is located in the historic part of the city," said Nwelati.
Sokol initially demanded a rent of 65,000 crowns, but at the January meeting of the assembly, the representatives rejected this proposal and offered 20,000 crowns instead. With the money from the rent, Sokol plans to pay for the repairs of the entire building.
The pool will be primarily designated for education and seniors, while families with children will still be able to use the municipal pool at Štěpánka, which is equipped with slides and toboggans. During the reconstruction, an elevator should also be created in the building to ensure good accessibility for seniors to the pool.
According to Nwelati, work on the pool could start next year. The city has already prepared the project documentation, and after the rent amount is approved, the next step will be to obtain the building permit.
In Mladá Boleslav, there are two indoor swimming pools and one outdoor swimming area. The pool at the edge of the Štěpánka forest park opened in April 2015. The pool in the basement of the Mladá Boleslav Sokol Hall is 40 years old and is currently not in use.
