Ostrava will sell a plot of land in the city center for 95 million crowns

Ostrava - Ostrava will sell a plot of land in the city center to a private developer for 95 million crowns, located between Forum Nová Karolina and Trojhalí, known as Trojzubec. The company Contera Investment X will acquire it, intending to build an administrative building there. This will connect to the existing commercial-administrative and residential complex. The decision was made today by the Ostrava city council.

The plot covers an area of 7982 square meters; the city decided to sell it last May and interested parties could apply until September. The minimum price was set at 56 million crowns, and the city required that a building of at least three stories be constructed at the site. The contract with the winning company will be signed this month.

"The construction of an administrative building on currently unused land will be another important step in the development of this significant part of the city center, for its integration, connecting modern buildings of the shopping center and residential houses with the historical Trojhalí objects," stated Mayor Tomáš Macura (ANO).

Contera intends to construct a five-story administrative building with an underground parking lot for approximately 250 spaces. It will include an auditorium, an internal atrium, or a rooftop terrace.

"The purchase agreement also sets deadlines that the buyer must adhere to. By mid-next year, they must apply for a change in the zoning decision, and if approved, they should have the building permit no later than May 2022. By the end of July 2024, the building should be completed and ready for use. We have set an additional one-year grace period for meeting these deadlines. If they are not met, the city has the right to withdraw from the purchase agreement," said Investment Deputy Zuzana Bajgarová (ANO).

The company Contera, which is buying land with the intention of building an administrative complex, has already built an industrial park in Kunčička and is constructing another on a brownfield in Hrušov.

Last year, Ostrava offered two plots for sale in the Karolina area - Trojzubec and Slza. Negotiations with potential buyers for Slza are ongoing.
