We are transforming the busiest intersection in Prague into a cultural scene!
In just a week, bustling Prague artery will be brought to life with workshops, foosball and chess tournaments, fashion shows, as well as dance and musical performances. The busy boulevard will become a stage, a laboratory of real urban life. The new life on the street is meant to be proof that an alternative exists!
CCEA has been actively engaged in the topic of the Prague Magistrala and the possibilities of its transformation since 2010. Initially, we opened a discussion on the transformation of the Prague Magistrala at the municipal level, which gradually moved to individual city districts, leading to the emergence of the Initiative for the Humanization of the Magistrala among the Municipalities of Prague 2, Prague 4, and Prague 7 in 2012. This year, we are bringing the discussion to the street, directly to the busiest place of the North-South connection at I.P. Pavlova.

At the Open Stage, through performances, artistic interventions, exhibitions, and happenings by Prague cultural initiatives and citizens, we will create a new interpretation of the Prague Magistrala. We are testing its new form!

The Open Stage - a public happening - will take place at the turn of July and August as a one-time event lasting two weeks. Temporary installations, shops, and services will be set up here. Throughout the two weeks, there will be concerts, workshops for children and adults, readings, markets, and dance performances. The space will be enhanced by urban greenery. The public is welcome to participate in the program.

The Open Stage will kick off with a visual performance by Patrik Hábl, who will create a new environment - a basis for spontaneous activities - through a large-scale painting of 300m2 on I.P. Pavlova. The stage will feature, for example, DJ Lumiere, who will perform on July 29, or the music ensemble Prague Modern on July 27. Four evenings will be dedicated to film screenings directed by Aerofilms. In addition to music and dance performances, debates, and workshops, the Open Stage will host the Super Flea Market at the Magistrala on July 31 and Dyzajn na Ípáku on August 3, with a flash mob event every day at 7:00 PM. Two tournaments will also be held - in chess and table football. For children, there will be spatial games with the artistic group Strašné dítě or art workshops with Marie Vymazalová.

All performances are free for the public.

The public can actively participate in the project either by performing on the Open Stage or in the following ways:
•    discussions
•    comments in the Book of Great Changes during the event
•    on the blog: novamagistrala.wordpress.com
•    on fb: facebook.com/MagistralaNovaPrazskaTrida
