Pardubice - The representatives of Pardubice today approved the purchase of land near the railway station from Eurobit Real. The city will pay 7.62 million crowns plus VAT for 1.5 hectares, in the event that the land falls under the value-added tax regime. The city hall needs the area for the construction of Terminal B, where a new bus station is to be built.
The city hall is already preparing the project documentation for the construction. "Without this land, which is strategic and necessary, it is not possible to continue with the design," said the deputy mayor Helena Dvořáčková (ANO).
The city had an independent expert opinion made on the land. According to it, the price is just under five million crowns. However, Eurobit Real did not agree to this amount. According to Dvořáčková, expropriation could also be considered, but that would take two to three years, and the city would miss the opportunity to draw on European funding for the terminal.
Some representatives were not satisfied with the price. Karel Haas (ODS) considered it disproportionately high. He also pointed out other costs that the construction would entail, similarly to Jiří Lejhanec (Pardubice Together).
According to the resolution approved today, the city will also build a service road to the area in the southern part by the end of 2021. It will serve both the public and the company for access to its other plots.
There are several owners at the site of the future terminal. Most of the land was owned by Czech Railways, from whom Pardubice has already purchased the land; another piece is owned by the Railway Administration. The largest plot is private, owned by Eurobit Real.
In December, the representatives approved a larger version of Terminal B for 165 million crowns. For that, the large land of Eurobit Real is also necessary. The city intends to finance the investment with the help of a grant from the Integrated Territorial Investment (ITI) program of the Hradec Králové-Pardubice agglomeration.
The terminal for intercity bus transportation is to be located behind the apartment building on Jan Perner Square. The representatives initially approved its demolition, but ultimately did not allocate funds for it. Two tenants remained in the building, refusing to relocate. Therefore, the city modified the building to meet noise limits for residential use. Part of the building will also be used by the municipal police, which wants to establish another station and misdemeanor department there starting this year. There will be a passage through the building created by the city to provide access to the station.
Pardubice must hurry with Terminal B. The current bus station was purchased some time ago by a private investor who wishes to close it down.
