Prague - Prague has halted the change to the zoning plan that would have allowed the construction on green spaces in Trojmezí. It also rejected changes related to residential development in Pitkovice. This was stated to journalists by Deputy Mayor Josef Nosek (ODS) after the meeting of the council. The city leadership also suspended the discussion of other changes concerning, for example, a possible cable car to Dívčí hrady in Prague 5 and the construction of office buildings in Stodůlky.

The construction in Trojmezí and Pitkovice received negative feedback from relevant authorities, such as the municipal department of environmental protection.
Trojmezí is a large undeveloped area on the border of Prague 10, 11, and 15. It includes the Hostivař - Záběhlice nature park and the protected area of the Meander of the Botič River. The area is primarily used for recreation by residents of the surrounding housing estates of Chodov, Spořilov, Záběhlice, Zahradní Město, Hostivař, and Košík.
The proposed zoning plan suggested the creation of residential buildings at the expense of green spaces. Thousands of residents, as well as many experts, opposed it in a petition. The plan was also unpopular with non-profit organizations, health officials, and the Czech Agency for Nature Conservation and Landscape Protection.
According to the mayor of Prague 10, Milan Richtr (ODS), it will be necessary in the future to decide how the area will be used. Part of the land is owned by private owners and developers who wanted to build there. Therefore, Prague, according to Richtr, will have to consider purchasing these plots.
Regarding the suspended changes to the zoning plan, the city will have impacts of these plans on the environment assessed, according to Nosek, before deciding on the next steps. In the case of the planned office development in Stodůlky, which is part of the so-called Western City, land designated for education would also be affected, according to Nosek.
The city leadership also decided today to further develop the change that aims to evaluate new uses for Štvanice Island, as well as the plan to lower the expressway near the National Museum from the garages of Slovan to Nuselský Bridge. The council also agreed on the proposal to build a transfer hub in Zahradní Město and to expand the sewage collector in Uhříněves.
The municipal planning department does not agree with the tunnel option near the museum, which would extend to Nuselský Bridge. However, the city still wants to process this change. According to Nosek, it is more advantageous to have a longer variant in the zoning plan and decide later which option is more acceptable. The shorter version would end already in the park behind the museum. Moreover, the capital does not expect this construction in the coming years; according to Deputy Mayor Karel Březina (ČSSD), the project is rather "the music of the future" due to high costs.
