Prague - 15 years ago, on June 25, 2004, a new section of the metro was put into operation, extending line C from Nádraží Holešovice by two stations – Kobylisy and Ládví. Passengers in the Prague metro thus began using the fourth tunnel under the Vltava riverbed. To cross the Vltava, the builders used an unconventional method – two reinforced concrete tubes 170 meters long were initially manufactured in a dry dock on the riverbank and then slowly inserted into the trench at the bottom, which was eventually filled in.

The long-awaited metro section, which facilitated transportation to the city center for tens of thousands of people from Kobylisy or Bohnice, is also associated with another construction interesting fact. After passing under the river, the train overcomes a record gradient, lifting by 112 meters over less than four kilometers.

The last extension of line C occurred in May 2008 with the addition of stations Střížkov, Prosek, and Letňany at the northeastern edge of Prague. After this extension, line C measures approximately 22.5 kilometers and has exactly twenty stations. The journey from one terminus to the other takes about 35 minutes. The line also includes the longest interstation segment of the metro, which lies between the stops Nádraží Holešovice and Kobylisy and measures 2749 meters.

The total length of all three lines of the Prague metro currently exceeds 65 kilometers, serving passengers with 61 stations.
