Brno – The planned Sanatorium Pálava is one step closer to realization. The company Thermal Pasohlávky, established by the South Moravian Region in collaboration with the municipality of Pasohlávky in Brno, has already signed a contract with designers for the preparation of documentation for the building permit of the planned construction. This was announced today at an online press conference by Deputy Governor Jan Zámečník (KDU-ČSL). The treatment facility in Pasohlávky will cost about half a billion crowns, and the institution, with 160 beds, will offer inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation care. The anticipated opening is in 2024.
Sanatorium Pálava in Pasohlávky is mainly aimed at providing timely neurorehabilitation care for patients with diseases of the nervous system, including neurodegenerative diseases, as well as after neurosurgical conditions or for musculoskeletal diseases.
"Patients with severe brain damage today remain for several days and months in acute beds or in long-term care facilities because there are no places where neurorehabilitation could start as soon as possible. The signing of the contract brings us a step closer to the establishment of the sanatorium, which will help people with neurodegenerative diseases, after neurosurgical operations, and so on,” said Zámečník. According to him, the documentation should be completed in the first half of the year or in the third quarter.
Originally, the facility was supposed to cost 300 to 400 million, but the estimate has grown to half a billion. The investment should be covered by funds from the sale of nearby land, as well as from the region and a subsidy from the state. Zámečník stated that a subsidy application should be submitted this year or next year. Without the subsidy, he noted that realization from internal sources would not be possible.
The facility will be located near the planned spa complex that the Chinese company RiseSun is preparing in Pasohlávky. The spa complex, with original costs of up to two billion crowns, is expected to be completed by 2026. RiseSun has already purchased necessary land from Thermal Pasohlávky for this purpose. It is from these funds that Thermal Pasohlávky will cover part of the costs for the establishment of the treatment facility.
