Pasohlávky - The South Moravian Region today received the completed Pálava Sanatorium in Pasohlávky from the construction company VCES. The operator of the specialized rehabilitation institute with 160 beds, which cost 693 million crowns excluding VAT, is South Moravian Health. In the coming months, the facility will undergo trial operation, installation of medical technologies, and recruitment of staff, the regional office stated in a press release. The official opening with a fully prepared team and facilities for the first patients is scheduled for summer.
"With today's handover, the project moves from the construction phase to the preparation of a fully operational healthcare service. I am convinced that this modern facility will significantly enhance rehabilitation care in our region and provide patients with top conditions for treatment and recovery in a unique environment near Pálava," stated Governor Jan Grolich (KDU-ČSL).
During the trial operation, technical details will be fine-tuned and technology interconnections will be verified. "Step by step, interior furnishings, medical technologies, such as robotically assisted rehabilitation systems, and complete IT infrastructure including a hospital information system will be installed," added Investment Councillor David Grund (ODS).
The contractor focused on functionality and creating a peaceful environment conducive to the healing process. The majority of the interior spaces are open towards the surrounding landscape. The building is also designed to minimize energy consumption during operation and to make the highest possible use of renewable energy sources.
For patient treatment, the 160-bed sanatorium will utilize highly mineralized thermal water. This water rises to the surface from a depth of 1455 meters and, even after a long journey, retains a temperature around 40 degrees Celsius. It is this combination of natural heat and high concentrations of active substances that creates ideal conditions for modern balneotherapy. It will mainly serve patients with musculoskeletal and nervous system diseases, including complex conditions following injuries or surgeries of the spine, spinal cord, and brain.
Along with preparing for operation, staff recruitment is also needed. The facility is looking for clinical psychologists, speech therapists, physiotherapists, and masseurs, among others. All current job opportunities can be found on the website. Furthermore, it is necessary to obtain legal authorizations for providing healthcare services and complete negotiations with health insurance companies.
The sanatorium, whose construction began two years ago, was meant to be part of a larger spa complex. A Chinese company, RiseSun, was supposed to build a spa nearby, and according to the contract with the region, it was to be completed next year. However, construction has not yet started. The spa zone is located on the northern shore of the upper Novomlýn Reservoir between Pasohlávky and the main road from Brno to Mikulov. This area includes the Mercury campsite and a large water park with a hotel.
