Brno - At the Pálava Sanatorium in Pasohlávky in the Brno region, where construction is already completed, defects and unfinished work are now being inspected. Everything is to be ready so that the facility can be handed over to the operator on February 24, the spokesperson for the South Moravian Region, Martina Žídková, informed in a press release. The operator will be the regional company Jihomoravská zdravotní. Governor Jan Grolich (KDU-ČSL) stated that the plan is to start operations this summer.

The rehabilitation institute will have 180 beds and will serve people recovering from severe injuries or illnesses in the fields of neurology, neurosurgery, traumatology, and orthopedics. It is crucial for the operator to have enough staff, which includes doctors and various specialists - physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, speech therapists, general and practical nurses, nutritional therapists, healthcare masseurs, and also paramedics. However, other non-medical staff are also needed to ensure the operation. Information about available job positions can be found on the website www.sanatoriumpalava.cz, and currently, the operator is only looking for a deputy medical director, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists.

In addition to staff, the sanatorium also needs to be fully equipped by summer. After taking over the building, the staff should also familiarize themselves with the operation of all technologies.

The region paid approximately 800 million korunas for the construction of the facility, which began two years ago. The sanatorium was supposed to be part of a larger spa complex. Chinese investors and their company RiseSun were supposed to build the spa nearby, and according to the contract with the region, it was to be completed next year. However, the land is currently idle and nothing is being constructed. It is therefore clear that no building will be erected by next year, and what will happen with the land in the future remains to be seen. The Chinese are supposed to pay a fine to the region for not meeting the conditions, however, the land still belongs to them.

The spa zone is located on the northern shore of the upper Novomlýnská reservoir between Pasohlávky and the main road from Brno to Mikulov. This area includes the long-established Mercury campsite, and in 2013, a giant water park with a hotel also opened here.
