Jihlava – The region selected a contractor to design a multi-purpose building on Bratří Čapků Street in Jihlava. The building will also include apartments for hospital staff. The project documentation will cost 7.1 million korun. This is significantly less than the region had anticipated, said Vysočina governor Martin Kukla (ANO) to reporters today. Six interested parties applied for the contract.

The residential building, with two underground levels for parking and a commercially usable ground floor, is to be constructed on the region's land next to the regional office. Currently, the land serves as a parking area. The estimated cost for the project documentation was 28 million korun. According to the deputy governor Otto Vopěnka (ANO), estimated project costs are often significantly higher than the amount that emerges from the competition. The winning bid for the multi-purpose building was not deemed unreasonably low by the regional council.

The construction is expected to cost approximately 685 million korun and could start next year according to the governor. There should be a total of 72 apartments and 200 parking spaces in the building.

The region is also purchasing apartments and entire residential buildings in other cities. This aims to facilitate the recruitment of new employees for its hospitals. In April, it approved the purchase of four apartments for over 36 million korun for the hospital in Pelhřimov; in June, the city council agreed to purchase six apartments for about 47.5 million korun in Třebíč, where a residential building for the hospital's needs is being planned as well. The region is also collaborating with Nové Město na Moravě on the same initiative, where one of the five regional hospitals is located.
