Brno – Last week, the Brno city council approved the participants in the tender for the transformation of the Svratka riverbank. Construction work was supposed to start at the turn of spring and summer, following extensive tree felling that saw over 300 trees and hundreds of square meters of bushes disappear from the riverbank. The selected candidates now have 30 days to submit their price offers, after which a contractor will be chosen, meaning work will begin at the earliest in the autumn. A several-month delay should not affect the construction timeline of 1.6 billion crowns. Šárka Reichmannová, spokesperson for the Office of the Architect of the City of Brno, which is in charge of the riverbank transformation, told ČTK today.
The public procurement for the contractor who will build flood protection measures from Riviera through the riverbank near Rondo to the Uhelná viaduct was announced by the city at the beginning of March. The deadline for submitting applications for participation was originally set for mid-April. The Brno city council extended it to May 25 based on a request for clarification and adjustment of qualification conditions. Since this is a restricted procedure, contractors submitted applications for participation in the first round, and the commission assessed the fulfillment of the required qualifications.
Last Thursday, the council approved inviting six entities to submit offers. Among them are companies such as Metrostav DIZ, a consortium of OHL ŽS, HOCHTIEF CZ, and FIRESTA-Fišer, a consortium of STRABAG, Doprastav, and POHL, or the consortium IMOS Brno and PORR. The price will be decisive. Conversely, they excluded the company GG + ESB Svratka, whose shareholders are GEOSAN GROUP and Energie – construction and mining. The city has applied for a subsidy for the construction of flood protection measures. According to the conditions of the grant title, the construction must be completed by the end of 2023.
The Svratka river will gain more space in the section from the Riviera to the viaduct, and the adjustment will also involve the creation of new recreational and sports areas. A new colonnade with stairs allowing access to the river surface will be built at the existing riverbank wall along Poříčí street. This phase, labeled VII and VIII, is to be followed by phases IX, X, and XI in the Trnitá district for 530 million crowns. The expected implementation date is 2024 to 2026.
