Prague - The Prague Water Management Company (PVS) plans to renovate the pumping station and water tower Děvín. The repairs will take place next year and will not affect consumers. This was announced to journalists today by Vladimír Okrouhlický from Prague Water and Sewage (PVK), who did not disclose the amount of investment. The investor for the project will be the Prague Water Management Company.

The tower celebrates 40 years since its inception, and its author is architect Karel Hubáček. "It will be a complete reconstruction of both the pumping station and the tower. Since it is already 40 years old, extensive surveys of the pumping station were conducted last year; it is already at the end of its lifespan. From today's perspective and the economics of energy consumption, it is no longer a top work," said Okrouhlický. The reconstruction has been designed, and construction proceedings have begun.

The Děvín pumping station was built for the distribution of drinking water from the Jesenice reservoir from the Želivka pipeline to the southwest city. "This means the housing estates of Stodůlky, Nové Butovice, or Lužiny," said Okrouhlický.

The tower is 50 meters high, consisting of three tubes with a diameter of 180 centimeters, and serves to balance the pressure in the water pipeline. One of the tubes is still underwater, thus maintaining the water level at the level of the reservoir in Jesenice. The remaining two are for the overflow of water during high pressure.

There is continuous oversight at the station, which also takes care of the maintenance of pumps and other equipment.
