Prague - Prague 3 plans to reconstruct Komenského Square at the corner of Roháčova and Českobratrská streets by the end of the year. The reconstruction of Tachov and Kostnické Squares will follow next year. This was communicated to ČTK by the deputy mayor of the municipal district, Ivan Holeček (ČSSD). The revitalization of the first public space could be completed still this year.

The smaller Komenského Square previously served as a parking lot. During its renovation, greenery will be supplemented and restored, new trees will be planted, and a water feature and new furnishings will be installed. According to the municipal district's budget, the total revitalization is expected to cost 31 million crowns, with 15 million secured from the city hall. Adjustments, according to Holeček, will begin this September or October, and the work will last several months. "It will depend on the weather, but it could be finished by the end of this year," the deputy mayor stated.

In addition to this investment, the Prague 3 city hall is also preparing the revitalization of two more public spaces. Kostnické Square between Husitská and Seifertova streets was originally scheduled to begin reconstruction this year, but according to Holeček, the more likely timeline is the beginning of next year. The revitalization of Tachovské Square in the slope below Vítkov is also planned for 2018, which connects Žižkov and Karlín with a tunnel. This should improve access to Vítkov and connect the space with the cycling path. According to Holeček, property relations need to be resolved before work begins.

Other Prague squares are also expected to undergo adjustments in the near future. Early next year, the long-planned reconstruction of the lower half of Wenceslas Square is to begin. Within two years, the reconstructions of Malostranské Square and Jan Palach Square could also start.
