Rožnov pod Radhoštěm – After more than a year, Rožnov pod Radhoštěm in the Vsetín region has completed the renovations in front of the train station. Additional parking spaces, greenery, and a gazebo for relaxation have been added. The work followed last year's demolition of four unused buildings. The costs of construction work, furnishings, and landscaping amounted to almost 25 million crowns, with 85 percent of eligible costs covered by a grant, said Adéla Kousalová, spokesperson for the Rožnov town hall, to ČTK.
According to Deputy Mayor Markéta Blinková (ODS), the area in front of the station is a natural entrance to the city that hundreds of people pass through every day. "Our goal was to create a pleasant and representative place that offers plenty of greenery, space for relaxation, options for refreshments, and quality facilities for travelers. The centerpiece of the area has become a new gazebo surrounded by greenery, which will serve as a meeting and resting place. Solar panels are installed on its roof, allowing for the simultaneous charging of up to six electric bikes," said Blinková.
The city also planted more than 800 trees and shrubs in the surrounding area, complemented by perennial flower beds. "Grass areas covering more than 1500 square meters have also been enhanced. Part of the space includes a photo point that adds to the representative character of the new entrance zone," said the deputy mayor.
Since the beginning of the year, there has been a new parking lot with 39 spaces available to the public in front of the station. The surface is made of permeable paving. "Thanks to this solution, rainwater naturally soaks back into the ground, which, combined with the newly planted greenery, will help improve the microclimate in this part of the city, especially during the summer months," stated Mayor Jan Kučera (for Independent Rožnov Residents).
The town hall has also improved the area for bus transport. According to city representatives, it is now better connected to the train station, enhancing the comfort of both travelers and drivers.
