Brno - The director of the Brno branch of the National Heritage Institute (NPÚ) Petr Kroupa and the director of the Pardubice branch Iva Lánská will be stepping down from their positions. At least for now. The head of NPÚ Pavel Jerie dismissed them for organizational reasons, due to the division of their workplaces into smaller units, reports today's Lidové noviny in its Brno edition. A selection procedure for the directors of four branches will now be announced. Kroupa is reportedly going to apply, as Jerie has invited both dismissed directors to do so. Some NPÚ workplaces will undergo restructuring starting next year. The Brno headquarters will be divided by region into South Moravian and Vysočina, while the current Pardubice branch will also include Hradec Králové. Radomír Konečný, Kroupa's economic deputy, also left the Brno branch last year due to financial management issues. However, Jerie denies that Kroupa's dismissal was due to his professional mistakes. "It is in accordance with the ministry's instructions and actually also with logic - if the current directors wanted to apply for new positions, there would be a problem with who would take over their role," he explained. Kroupa and Lánská have been leading the regional NPÚ offices since January 2006, after the then Minister Vítězslav Jandák dismissed the entire management of the institute, including regional directors.
