Prague – The primary and kindergarten school U Elektry in Prague 9 will be built by the companies PP 53 and SMP CZ. They won the tender for the construction supplier in April with a bid price of 408,545,894 crowns excluding VAT. Today, the City Hall of Prague 9 as the investor handed over the construction site to the consortium of companies. The building should be completed in two years. This information was provided to ČTK by the spokesperson of the city hall of the ninth district, Marie Kurková.
"The completely new primary and kindergarten school U Elektry will serve as a catchment school for the large development area of Vysočany. Between Poděbradská and Kolbena streets, extensive urbanization is currently underway or planned on the former Vysočany brownfield. And predominantly residential construction must go hand in hand with public amenities in these new locations, including the construction of educational facilities," stated the mayor of Prague 9, Tomáš Portlík (ODS).
The school, which will be located on municipal land by Sousedíkova street, is designed for about 700 students. An additional 78 children are expected to attend the future three-class kindergarten in the building. There will be 15 classrooms designated for the first stage and eight for the second stage. Additionally, six specialized classrooms will be created for subjects such as computer science, art education, music education, and foreign languages.
The school building, consisting of a three-story and a four-story structure, will be situated on a slope with the entrance floor partially embedded. In this semi-basement, among other features, there will be the main entrance in the form of a glass atrium or cloakrooms. The four-story building will house the school administration and there will also be an apartment for the caretaker. Kindergarten classes, a preparatory class, and classes for the first grade will be in the three-story building. Regarding the sports facilities, a large gymnasium with a separate entrance for potential public use, a gymnastic hall with a fitness center, and an outdoor playground are planned.
The school was designed in 2013. The application for the placement of the building was submitted to the building authority in 2015, and a valid building permit was issued in 2020. According to Kurková, nine applicants participated in the first round of the tender for the company that will build the school, while six competitors participated in the second round.
