Prague – Prague 9 has received permission to construct the Primary and Nursery School U Elektry, and the city hall will announce a tender for the construction contractor in March. Construction should start this autumn. The construction work is estimated to cost about 400 million crowns. The school is expected to open for students on September 1, 2022. This was announced today by the Deputy Mayor of Prague 9, Tomáš Portlík (ODS).
"Of course, we would like to start construction as soon as possible, but there are certain variable factors, such as the tender for the construction contractor," the Deputy Mayor stated.
The capacity of the building, which will be erected on U Elektry Street in Vysočany, is expected to accommodate 720 students in the primary school and 72 children in the nursery school, which will be part of the facility. The new school is expected to become the local school for Nová Harfa and Kabešova, said Prague 9 spokesperson Marie Kurková to ČTK.
The estimated cost of the construction is 400 million crowns. The final price will depend on the tender for the construction contractor, according to Portlík. "Initially, we estimated around 300 million, but delays in the construction process caused by appeals from third parties and subsequent changes in financing, not just in construction, have shifted the overall costs," Portlík stated on his Facebook profile.
The school was designed in 2013 based on demographic projections of the age structure of residents in Prague 9. The application for the construction's site placement was submitted to the building authority in 2015. The final building permit was issued this year. The design of the building was created by the Bomart design office and the ADR architectural studio.
