PARDUBICE - The screening of Juraj Herz's film "The Cremator" at the Pardubice crematorium, which will close the Febiofest film festival in Pardubice on April 17, has generated such interest that the organizers have decided to increase the number of screenings from one to three. This was stated today by Jan Motyčka, the organizer of the Pardubice part of the festival. The famous 1968 film was filmed in the setting of the local crematorium. “Initially, we wanted to organize this completely exceptional event only for the creators of this film and the professional public. However, when we realized the almost unbelievable response to this idea, we decided to accommodate the enormous interest of film enthusiasts," said Motyčka. According to him, audiences were daily targeting the usual pre-sale locations and requesting tickets for the special screening. Therefore, screenings will take place at 10:00, 12:30, and 14:30. The black-and-white film features well-known actors such as Rudolf Hrušínský, Vlasta Chramostová, Ilja Prachař, Jiří Lír, Míla Myslíková, Vladimír Menšík, Eduard Kohout, Jan Kraus, Jiří Menzel, Jana Šulcová, Oldřich Vízner, Carmen Mayerová, and Marie Rosůlková. The author of the same-titled novel was the writer Ladislav Fuks. The cinematography is by Stanislav Milota, and the music was composed by Zdeněk Liška. The Pardubice crematorium is also well-regarded among architects. The building was constructed between 1921 and 1923 according to the design of architect Pavla Janák in the national style of rondocubism.
