The state has announced the third round of the electronic auction for the Hanácká barracks in Olomouc

Olomouc - The Office for the Representation of the State in Property Matters (ÚZSVM) has announced the third round of a public tender for the sale of the extensive Hanácké barracks complex in the historic center of Olomouc, which failed to sell in the electronic auction in September and November. The new electronic auction will start on January 4 at 10:00 and will last until January 5 at 10:00. The minimum price for this property remains the same as in the previous two rounds of the tender, which is 262 million crowns. "The reason for the announcement of the third round is that Palacký University in Olomouc has not yet submitted a request for direct purchase of this complex," said ÚZSVM spokesperson Michaela Tesařová today to ČTK.

Interested parties in the Hanácké barracks must pay a deposit of 27 million crowns before the auction begins, that is, by January 3. "For the auction to produce a winner, participants must make at least one bid. The first bid must be at least equal to the minimum price announced, which is 262 million crowns. Subsequent bids must increase the amount by at least 100,000 crowns," Tesařová stated.

The Hanácké barracks were used by the army for 170 years and have been empty since 2013. Only one interested party registered for the first round of the tender at the beginning of September, but did not make a bid. ÚZSVM then negotiated the sale of the barracks with Palacký University, which expressed interest in the extensive property in the center. Foreign investors have also shown interest in the Hanácké barracks.

The Hanácké barracks building has an office space of over 2000 square meters. Initially, it was considered that hundreds of employees from state offices, currently located in several places in Olomouc, would move there. However, according to the Ministry of Defense, further use for state officials would be more expensive than selling and potentially building a new administrative headquarters.

In 2014, the Olomouc Region expressed interest in the Hanácké barracks building, wanting to establish storage facilities for a museum and library, offices for organizations dealing with European grants, and a shop for regional food. Eventually, the regional government abandoned this plan.
