At the auction of Hanácké Kasárny in Olomouc, at least one interested party registered

Olomouc – At least one interested party has registered for the electronic auction for the sale of the listed Hanácké barracks complex in Olomouc, which was initiated this morning by the Office for State Representation in Property Matters. The minimum price for the extensive property is set at 262 million crowns, and the auction will end on Friday at 10:00 AM. Michaela Tesařová, spokeswoman for the ÚZSVM, said this in response to a query from ČTK. The Hanácké barracks were used by the army for 170 years, but since 2013, the large property in the city center has been vacant, and its further use by state officials would be much more costly than selling it and possibly building a new administrative headquarters, according to the Ministry of Defense.

According to Tesařová, the electronic auction is initiated if at least one interested party registers for the auction and pays the required deposit. For the electronic auction of the Hanácké barracks, the deposit is 27 million crowns. The Hanácké barracks building has an office area of over 2,000 square meters. Originally, it was considered that hundreds of state office employees, currently located in multiple places in Olomouc, would move into it. This option was abandoned, as experts believe it would be less advantageous for the state than selling it.

The proposal to sell the Hanácké barracks was approved by the government last autumn. Documents for the government indicate that the sale of the barracks could bring around a quarter of a billion crowns to the state. In contrast, the reconstruction of the listed building is estimated to cost about 815 million crowns. According to the submission report for the government, most rooms in the Hanácké barracks are unsuitable for office spaces due to high ceilings and their shape.

The potential construction of a new administrative headquarters in Olomouc is estimated to cost about 575 million crowns. It would house employees of state organizations that are currently located in rented spaces or state buildings, the operation of which is too expensive. Consideration is given, for example, to the Olomouc branches of the General Directorate of Customs, the State Veterinary Administration, the Cadastral Office for the Olomouc Region, or the Czech School Inspection. A new administrative building could be built on the land of the General Directorate of Customs near Polská Street.

In 2014, the Olomouc Region expressed interest in the Hanácké barracks, intending to establish storage for a museum and library, offices for organizations handling European grants, and a store for regional food products. Ultimately, the regional authority abandoned this plan.
