Liberec – The relocation of officials from the Liberec City Hall from the Uran building, which is set for several months of repairs, will begin next week on Monday. About 60 employees from the social department will move to the S Tower building. City spokesperson Tomáš Tesař told ČTK that during the relocation, which is planned for three weeks, the department's operations will be limited. People should arrange meetings with officials preferably in advance by phone or email.
The city has rented part of the S Tower building from Elite Office Park for two years, with the option to extend the lease for another five years. Officials from the social department will have offices on the first to fourth floors. This amounts to approximately 1,900 square meters of space, for which the city will pay about 3.1 million crowns in rent over two years.
Employees from the transportation registry will also have to vacate the Uran building, and they will have temporary accommodation in the regional office building. They are expected to relocate to the location where the vaccination center is currently situated. However, their move is planned no earlier than in October.
The seven-story Uran office building is set for repairs estimated to cost around 85 million crowns. The city is currently searching for a company to carry out the work through a tender. The original deadline for submitting bids was set to expire on September 3, but the city extended it to October 6 due to comments regarding the terms of the contract. The most urgent repairs will be made to the façade, which poses a danger to the surrounding area. Protective scaffolding has been erected around Uran to prevent anything from falling onto the sidewalk leading to the train station. The new façade will be made of galvanized sheets, replacing the current brittle panels. Works will also include ventilation systems, electrical installations, and central heating.
