Central Bohemian Days of Folk Architecture will showcase vineyard monuments of Mělnicko

Velký Borek – This year's Days of Folk Architecture in the Central Bohemia region will take place on Saturday in Velký Borek in the Mělník area, highlighting the heritage of Central Bohemia's viticulture and vineyard architectural monuments. A full-day program is prepared for visitors at the Turbovice vineyard estate in the Skuhrov area. Part of the tenth edition of the event will be the awarding of the title Master of Traditional Handicraft Production in the Central Bohemia region, informed today by ČTK Nikola Samcová from the Central Bohemia County Office.

The estate from the first half of the 18th century, founded by knight Jan František Turb from Turba, has been restored in recent years by the new owners, the Válka couple. The highlight is a log press from 1727, representing the largest and oldest device of its kind in Europe preserved in its original location.

"The example of the Turbovice estate shows that with determination and expert care, even endangered places can restore their former value. I am glad that the Days of Folk Architecture present the importance of cultural heritage to the wider public," stated the regional councilor for culture Václav Švenda (Allies).

Visitors to the event can look forward to a professional lecture by a historian from the Regional Museum of Mělník, an exhibition focused on grape cultivation in the valleys of Czech rivers, a puppet show for children, a museum workshop, demonstrations and sales of handicraft products, musical performances, and a guided tour in the vineyard estate area. The program will run from 10:00 to 17:00 and admission is free.
