Tachov - The thirteen-thousand strong Tachov aims to renovate a three-hectare city park by the end of next year. An investment of 20 million crowns will completely transform the face of the largest recreational zone in the city center. The design of the park was created after discussions with citizens, said Mayor Ladislav Macák to ČTK. The city hall is seeking funding from the Partnership Foundation, the largest Czech ecological foundation, where it was unsuccessful with a request last year but is confident this year. "If we do not receive the money, we will continue to work on the project, but everything will be spread out over several years," the mayor stated. The city will build a relaxation meadow where local residents can come to unwind. There will also be new paths, romantic nooks, a fountain, drinking fountains, all connected to the adjacent restaurant near the Park Hotel. The revitalization of the park, which already has building permits, includes a dendrological survey. "Healthy trees will remain. We will only replace old and dangerous growths," Macák added. "For just under a million crowns, we have already demolished the former summer cinema, which has not been operational for 16 years. So far, we are only spending our own money," said the mayor. The city hall demolished the stone stage, the cinema’s facilities, the metal screen structure, and the remains of metal benches. The former castle park is the largest relaxation zone right in the city. In Tachov, there are also peripheral parks such as Knížecí alley, the avenue to the mineral spring, the mineral spring itself, which was planted by Prince Windischgrätz in 1791 and later became an important promenade location. The alley has been protected since 1986 as a landscape dominant.
