Teplice - Teplice is preparing for the renovation of the city building on Beneš Square, where the information center will return after years. The costs are expected to be around 40 million crowns, and the city hall intends to use a grant. The current information center will temporarily move from a private space to Krupská Street from April 1, and it is expected to be permanently located in the renovated building starting next year, said Deputy Mayor Hynek Hanza (ODS).
"Now, within the framework of the project, we are fine-tuning the interior equipment and making some changes to the utilities. If everything goes well, we plan to start the renovation this July," the deputy added. The construction work is expected to last about a year.
It is still unclear whether the information center will continue to be operated by VisitTeplice. "It cannot yet be said whether it will be run by VisitTeplice or the city. We would like to discuss the future," Hanza said. He pointed out that the information center will temporarily move from the private lessor's premises to a city-owned building at the corner of Krupská Street.
The city is also preparing for the reconstruction of the Market Square, where it will first be necessary to repair the old water supply in the southern part. In the meantime, the city hall is preparing for the demolition of old buildings that no longer serve their original purpose. Vendors come to the square with delivery trucks, where they have their necessary equipment stored. The demolition is expected to take place at the turn of March and April.
