Třeboň - The Slatinné Spa in Třeboň will build a hotel with over 100 beds near the Aurora Spa. Costs will exceed 135 million CZK. This November, the spa plans to open a sauna world with 54 spots next to the wellness center. Last year, the spa had around 22,000 clients, which is about ten thousand less than the years before the pandemic. For last year, they expect revenues of 580 million CZK and gross profit of 60 million. Last autumn, they raised prices by five percent. ČTK was told by Třeboň's mayor Jan Váňa (ODS), who is also one of the spa's managing directors.
The new hotel will have 53 rooms, located within the Aurora Spa complex. "It should be in the four-star category, not a hostel. It will be luxurious accommodation at higher prices, primarily oriented towards private payers," said Váňa. The work is expected to be completed by March 2023.
This November, the spa plans to launch a trial operation of the sauna world. Construction began in December, with costs amounting to 95 million CZK. Currently, the spa offers 12 sauna spots, which will increase by 54 new ones, along with five cabins and massage beds. "We will have a lot to offer private payers in the autumn and winter months," said Váňa. Due to the sauna world, the spa will hire 20 new employees. The sauna world is next to the wellness center, which Třeboň completed last year at the Aurora Spa for 140 million CZK. It offers five swimming pools with heated water.
Last year, the spa had revenues of approximately 580 million CZK and expects a gross profit of 60 million. "I think the result is very good. And this does not include compensation we could still receive from the state, because we primarily had limited business in the spring months when wellness clients could not come here, and at one point neither could private payers for rehabilitation stays," said the mayor. In 2020, the spa had revenues from the sale of products, services and goods of 425 million CZK and a post-tax profit of 6.6 million. The results were influenced by the corona crisis, according to the annual report.
Interest in the spa was also helped last year by government covid vouchers. Vouchers worth 4000 CZK were used by 1200 people, and 1000 eight-thousand CZK vouchers for healthcare workers were exhausted in the autumn. Last year, 22,000 clients visited the Třeboň Spa, about ten thousand less than in 2018; the following year, the Bertiny Spa was closed. Last year, compared to 2018, there were about 2000 fewer insured clients and 8000 fewer private payers. "Fewer insured clients because hospitals postponed surgeries," believes Váňa.
The Slatinné Spa, which is owned by the city, encompasses the Bertiny Spa and the Aurora Spa. Approximately 480 people work there. The accommodation capacity of the spa is 740 beds, with nearly 380 more in guesthouses and hotels that the spa collaborates with. The company modernized the Bertiny Spa two years ago for 250 million CZK.
