Ostrava – In the vicinity of Stodolní Street in the center of Ostrava, a multi-functional complex with apartments, commercial spaces, and recreational areas is to be created. The city will begin negotiations with Linkcity Czech Republic, which offered more than 24 million crowns for the complex of unused properties adjacent to the historic building of the former slaughterhouse. This was decided by the city council, said Ostrava's mayor Tomáš Macura to reporters today.
The area called Residence Stodolní is located between Porážková, Stodolní, and Masná streets and covers an area of 3,747 square meters. The proposal to sell the complex of these properties was approved by the councilors last September, and the city then began seeking an investor. It received two offers.
"The evaluation committee assessed the offers and found that one does not meet the requirements. There is only one offer left, but we consider it very good. It is the offer submitted by Linkcity. The intention is a multi-functional complex that includes both residential and commercial and leisure functions. The added value is that the project is designed by the world-renowned architectural studio Bogle Architects," the mayor said.
The complex of properties is located in the city's heritage zone and was built between 1927 and 1928. The city is gradually reconstructing and completing the entire area to create a new functional neighborhood. The dominant feature will be the historic slaughterhouse, to which the city gallery will move after renovation.
The complex of buildings next to it is in poor condition and unused. The investor plans to mainly demolish the buildings, according to the mayor. The new complex could be built in the fall of 2025. "But it may happen that the negotiations regarding the contract will take some time and the deadline will be pushed back," Macura said.
The construction is also supposed to include a connection across Místecká Street. The city is considering deepening this busy road. An overhead bridge would lead from the Místecká area into the space of the new complex.
