Velké Meziříčí (Žďársko) - The local Ski Club will take care of the construction of a lookout tower on Fajtův kopec near Velké Meziříčí. It has a chance to obtain a higher subsidy from European funds than the town hall, which prepared the project. The decision to transfer the project to the club was made by the city council at today's extraordinary meeting. The costs for the construction of the approximately 30-meter-high lookout tower are estimated at ten million crowns.

The idea for the lookout tower came from the Velké Meziříčí Ski Club a few years ago, which already operates a ski slope and a bike park on Fajtův kopec in the summer. The final design of the lookout tower was chosen by people voting online. The design by architect Václav Hlaváček, featuring an original spiral-shaped tower, won.
Last May, the city took over main responsibility for the project, also applying for funding from the European Regional Operational Program. However, it later turned out that while the city could secure a subsidy of up to 40 percent of the total costs for the lookout tower, the Ski Club could receive funding of up to 60 percent of the costs. The club is also considering holding a public collection for the lookout tower.
Last year, with the support of the union, a lookout tower was already built in Vysočina, specifically in the Třebíč region. The tower, made of stone, metal, and wood, is 31 meters high and was opened at the Mařenka summit in the autumn. The implementation of the project, costing seven million crowns, was taken care of by the surrounding municipalities.
